Documents from Tanzania to be used for official purposes abroad

If you have documents from Tanzania (mainland or Zanzibar) that you need to present to authorities in the Nordic Countries, Baltic States and Ukraine, they must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tanzania if they have been issued in Tanzania. For documents issued in Zanzibar (originating from Zanzibar) must be first legalized by the Department of the ministry of Foreign Affairs in Zanzibar and then be brought to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for legalization again.  After being legalized at the Ministry then the documents should be taken to the relevant Embassy in Tanzania. There are legal fees to be paid at the Ministry as well as at the Embassies.

Documents to be legalized must be originals or copies of the original depending on the requirements. Copies may be legalized as well upon presentation of the original copies for quick reference and office verification.

If the document needs to be translated into English or any required language it must be done by a certified translator.

 Legalization illustrates that: the document was issued by a competent and expert authority, the signature, seal and/or stamp on the document are genuine, the document’s format is correct.

The Embassy of Tanzania in Sweden can authenticate documents signed by Authorities in Tanzania if asked to do so.

Documents from Nordic Countries, Baltic States or Ukraine

Similarly, if you have a document from the Nordic Countries, Baltic States and Ukraine which you need to use/present to Authorities in Tanzania (mainland or Zanzibar), they must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your country and by the Embassy of Tanzania in Stockholm. Documents to be legalized/endorsed must be sent to the Embassy including a receipt of fee payment of SEK. 300 per document

List of Documents that can be legalized by the Embassy include civil status documents, birth certificates, court orders and diplomas and any other document that requires legalization as per requirement shall be legalized as the need arises.
