As you probably realize, staying on Zanzibar (or any of Tanzania's islands) is generally a lot cheaper than being on safari. Don't forget to look at the options on Mafia Island also if any of your party are serious divers or snorkellers; Mafia doesn't have the same quality of beaches … but it's a lot quieter than Zanzibar, and can have a much more exclusive feel for a similar cost.

Upgrading of Mainland Trunk Roads in Tanzania‏

Dear All,

The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania is glad to inform you of a specific procurement notice (SPN) for the qualification of works contracts on the Roads projects in Tanzania.
The aim of this notice is to find contractors to upgrade Tanzania Mainland’s Trunk Roads totalling 431km to bitumen standard. The roads upgrading project is under the financing of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

We would also like to inform you that, MCT- Tanzania as part of the advertising strategy is planning to hold a marketing conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Johannesberg, South Africa on the 19th Feb and 26th feb 2009 respectively.
