On his last day in Tanzania, President Clinton became one of 360, 000 visitors annually to explore the World Famous Ngorongoro Crater. Often called "Africa’s Eden" and the "8th Natural Wonder of the World," this collapsed volcano (a “caldera”) is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area . This is a natural sanctuary for thousands of birds, insects and animals such as lions, zebra, black rhino and wildebeest, all free to wander.

THE GOVERNMENT OF TANZANIA DISTANCES ITSELF TO SENTIMENTS AGAINST AND MOVE TO HUNT GAY CITIZENS

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, wishes to clarify that Mr. Paul Makonda, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, was only airing his personal opinion which does not represent the official position of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Tanzania will continue to abide by all international treaties on human rights to which the country is a signatory. The United Republic of Tanzania will also continue to respect and uphold all human rights as provided for in the country’s constitution".
