As you probably realize, staying on Zanzibar (or any of Tanzania's islands) is generally a lot cheaper than being on safari. Don't forget to look at the options on Mafia Island also if any of your party are serious divers or snorkellers; Mafia doesn't have the same quality of beaches … but it's a lot quieter than Zanzibar, and can have a much more exclusive feel for a similar cost.

UHURU CELEBRATIONS IN STOCKHOLM

In December 2011, Tanzanians all over the world celebrated 50 years of independence anniversary of Tanzania maninland. In celebrating this anniversary, The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Sweden in cooperation with various stakeholders in the Nordic Countries organised three events on the climax week in Stockholm from 8 -10 Dec 2011. We present below the various events in pictures.

8th DECEMBER 2011 - CULTURAL EVENING


9th DECEMBER 2011 - SEMINAR:  “Celebrating 50 Years of Tanzania in Nordic Countries:  Reflections and  Prospects” held at Scandic Sergel Plaza, Brunkebergstorg 9, Stockholm.

The Embassy of Tanzania in Sweden in Cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden and Nordic Africa Institute organised a Seminar in order to:

  • Revisit Tanzania’s co-operation with Sweden in the investment, trade, aid, and political spheres.
  • Make reflections for future co-operation.

His Excellency Muhammed Mzale, Ambassador of The United Republic of Tanzania in Sweden hosted the seminar and the Guest of Honour was Ms. Eva Walder, Director General for Trade Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden.

A Keynote Presentation on; “50 years of Tanzania-Sweden investment, trade, aid and political cooperation: learned lessons and future prospects” was given by the Seminar Moderator, Prof. Francis Matambalya from the Nordic Africa Institute. While other presentations and speakers were as follows;
