As you probably realize, staying on Zanzibar (or any of Tanzania's islands) is generally a lot cheaper than being on safari. Don't forget to look at the options on Mafia Island also if any of your party are serious divers or snorkellers; Mafia doesn't have the same quality of beaches … but it's a lot quieter than Zanzibar, and can have a much more exclusive feel for a similar cost.

The former President of Tanzania, Benjamin William Mkapa attended the CC9 Climate Conference which took place on 4th and 5th June, 2009 at Hafslund Manor in Sarpsborg, Norway.

During the opening of the CC9 conference on 4th June, 2009, Tanzania’s former President Benjamin Mkapa said that African countries must accept that the climate crisis also affects them, and not just western industrial countries.
