| SWEDISH-AFRICAN MUSEUM PROGRAMME (SAMP) |
An African and a Swedish museum that enjoy a long-term collaboration based on mutual exchange are referred to as twin museums. The twins maintain constant contact via e-mail but they also meet regularly. They plan, conduct and evaluate projects together. All parts of the museum and museum staff of all categories take part in the exchange. The long-term nature of the collaboration is essential to developing the understanding and the mutual trust that are necessary in SAMP collaboration. All types of museums can become twin museums. A broad base is necessary for developing the SAMP idea that international exchange should be a source of mutual renewal.
Existing twin museums between Sweden and Tanzania are; The Village Museum of Tanzania and SKANSEN, Sweden Tanzania: Museum Director P.O. Box 511 Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
